“Pinot Noir can be quite a temperamental grape but thrives on limestone soils in cool climates. This Pinot Noir Rosé
vom Kalkstein is the palest of pale pinks reflecting the brief period of skin contact with the red Pinot Noir grapes to
extract this delicate colour. There are hints of raspberry, watermelon and pomegranate on the nose which continue
onto the palate. Dry to taste, this rosé is elegant, bright and racy on the palate with a crisp finish. Its fruitiness comes
best to the fore by not chilling too much.’’- Alison Flemming MW
This is a great wine, which challenges the normal perception of German wine. A wonderfully dry rosé from Pfalz, made from Pinot Noir – a notoriously temperamental grape. The grapes were grown in limestone (Kalkstein) soil, which help really bring out refreshing mineral qualities in this wine. The juice had extremely brief contact with the skins of the grapes, just enough to extract a pale pink colour to the wine. Expect refreshing acidity, with amazing notes of watermelon, pomegranate and raspberry. This wine is also suitable for Vegans.
Hints of forest fruit flavours, subtle citrus aromas on the nose which continue onto the palate. Dry to taste this rose is lively, well balanced and mineral on the palate with a crisp finish.
